~ DECEMBER 2021 ~ There are now online dating options for the anti-vaxxer in your life.
What shouldn’t you mention on a first date? Politics, religion, venereal disease?
Well, in very 2021 fashion one dating website is attempting to make things easier for anti-vaxxers looking for love. The site, called Pure Match, but is not to be confused with the Christian dating site of the same name. On its landing page, it makes its intentions quite clear.
“Pure. We’re coming soon. Pre-register for Australia’s first unvaxxed matching site,” it said.
It then takes you to a registration form where you can fill in your likes and dislikes – you can even tick a box that says you’re interested in conspiracy theories and the new world order.
Details are bare on the new site but if recent anti-vax protests are anything to go by there would be some appetite for the website.
The rallies come as Australia’s vaccination rate nears 80 per cent.
Only 24 hours ago the conspiracy theorists gathered for another protest in Melbourne.
The protests have, in recent weeks, been peaceful. But there were unruly scenes as MPs debated the government’s pandemic powers.
On one occasion, protesters carried gallows along Spring St and shouted for the Premier to be hanged.
The proposed legislation at the root of the protests cleared Victoria’s upper house and finally passed the Legislative Assembly – where Labor has a majority – just after 7pm on Thursday, to become law.
The law shifts responsibility for declaring pandemics from health officials to the Premier.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews said the laws would give the state a framework to keep Victoria open and safe.
“We need a set of rules because this pandemic is not over,” he said.
